Welcome to our first addition of “Munchin & Brunchin.” We will be visiting and reviewing local Calgary restaurants on a monthly basis to give you the inside scoop on the latest and greatest places to eat!! Our first stop was The Beltliner….
The Beltliner: A Modern Diner is known for their delicious breakfast menu, but don’t underestimate this diner for their dinner menu!! Michelle and I took two of our best friends along with us and we were all satisfied, so full and happy after leaving The Beltliner. Here are a few pictures from our meal.
Let’s start off with their cocktail menu. Who doesn’t love to indulge in a refreshing, fun cocktail to start off their dinner!! They have these yummy aeprol spritz slushy drinks and slushy moscow mules. They were perfect for a hot summer night 🙂
For our appetizer’s we went a little crazy and tried a few different ones! Our waitress recommended the:
- Perogy Poutine
- Smoked Chicken Wings (Hot)
- Pickled Pepper Cheddar Poppers
So we got all of them of course. All of these starters we awesome! I love poutine and perogies so with that combination I was in heaven. The wings had just the right amount of kick and sauce to them which was spot on! And the pickled pepper cheddar poppers were just as you expected; cheesy, spicy and who doesn’t love pickles 🙂
Next up were our main course choices. Since I have never had chicken and waffles before, I felt that The Beltliner would be the best place to start! Ryan and I both ordered those and WOW is all I have to say. The waffles were so fluffy, the chicken cooked to perfection and I love being able to add maple syrup, hot sauce and gravy to these to tie it all together. The portion was so big I had to bring some home, which tasted even better the second time!
Michelle and Sami split the Beltliner Burger which I had a bite of, and was super tasty! With two Alberta beef patties, cheddar cheese, and all the fixings; this burger made it hard not to have more than just one bite of their meal!! They also shared a plate of amazingly perfect nacho’s. Let me tell you, it is hard to find perfectly portioned nachos with cheese, chicken, spice and our favorite… AVOCADO! The Beltiner nailed these nacho’s.
Last but not least was dessert…my favorite 🙂 We were all feeling like pie so we ordered the Saskatoon berry and apple pie! Even though we were full to the brim, we cleaned the desserts up pretty good. Both pies were fresh, warm and just what we needed to finish off a great meal with friends!
The Beltliner offers great dinner options along with great service and delicious cocktails. If you haven’t had a chance to head there for dinner, we highly recommend it!! You are missing out if you haven’t been to The Beltliner for dinner. We hope you enjoyed our review of the restaurant, a big thank you to Beltliner for treating us to some amazing eats 🙂
Stay tuned for the next Brunchin & Munchin!
