2017 Reading List

Another one of my 2017 goals was to read a book a month. Most people ask me “why” and I simply say because it’s an escape for me. It’s a way for me to get away from a screen for an hour to just let my brain wander and decompress.

I hated, I repeat, hated reading as a kid. My mom worked at a library and we have unlimited access to books but I hated it. I was part of those special reading groups for kids that were behind all the other kids with their reading ability, which made me not like it even more haha. But over the last few years I started really enjoy reading books that better myself such as self-help, investing, organizing and lifestyle. I am definitely not a fiction book reader, I just can’t get into them. I like learning from my books and being able to apply what I learned to my life and make changes.

Any who, I set my goal of reading one book a month and I am off to a good start. I convinced one of my friends to join me so I have someone to keep me accountable. I have officially read two books and I know it sounds crazy but it has helped me so much. I think my vocabulary has expanded, I think deeper and at the end of the night instead of vegging out and watching three hours of Netflix, I work my brain and it helps me sleep better. This may not be the case for everyone but I am really reaping the benefits of all this reading and now I understand why teachers and parents stressed reading so much when we were kids.

So here is my 2017 reading list 🙂
